St John's has 6 bells originally cast in 1843/44 by Thomas Mears II and are tuned in the key of A. We ring most Wednesdays (but not all so make sure you contact us before coming along) between 8pm and 9:15pm. Ringing numbers have diminished slightly over the years but we are now joined by ringers from Foots Cray which means we are able to ring more regularly. We are also visted once a month by other ringers from around the area who help with teaching people to ring and help the rest of us progress and learn.
So if you fancy coming along and having a look and possibly have a go then please get in contact with the Acting Tower captain Debbie Runting.
Introducing Bell Ringing
Bell ringing is great fun! It requires skill and concentration and a commitment of time to learn, but in return, it’s a great social activity; a way of meeting new people and can give a life time of satisfaction and achievement.
If you’re interested in finding out more about bell ringing here at St Johns, please get in touch with Debbie Runting, Acting Tower Captain. Debbie can be contacted either via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are currently raising money to help repair our bell on March 30th we are having a coffee morning!
Please see the poster for more details.
